In October 2016, our clients got to experience a very special Harvest.
Hiroi Seiji is a breeder of beautiful Kohaku and is also a dealer who has a reputation of having one of the best Koi ‘eyes’ in the industry. He buys Koi smaller sizes and then grows them in his massive Niigata mud ponds.
He has some monster Koi and we were invited to join him on the main pond harvest, and what an amazing experience.
I have actually been on the Harvest before and always remember the tiny bridge that goes over a small brook. Its slippy even in the dry, nevermind with water all over it. These guys just ran straight over it with 30″ plus Koi. Quite amazing to watch.
The video below is just a quick put together video, no fancy editing, just how it was took.
The pictures under the video if of when the Koi were unloaded back at the Hiroi Seiji facility, and during the harvest.
Then after we unloaded the Koi from the main pond we were then back on the road and following to another pond which needed harvesting. Again, big Koi!
With a 5.30 start from the hotel, it was well worth it to see the Koi coming out of these ponds.
A truly amazing day in Japan.
Any Koi lover would just love this experience.
